Free tram ride along the Costa Blanca

Since May 1, driving the tram along the Costa Blanca is completely free on Sundays. Since this was instituted, more than 500,000 travelers have used the tram on a Sunday, which is an increase of no less than 50%.

Making the tram and metro service free in Alicante, Valencia and Castellón (trolleybus) is intended to encourage the use of public transport. The Alicante tram was put into use as a trial in 1999, after which the extension of the tram line started in 2002. Meanwhile, the network consists of a total of 127 kilometers of track.

There are currently 6 lines, namely L1 (Luceros-Benidorm); L2 (Luceros-San Vicente de Raspeig); L3 (Luceros-El Campello); L4 (Luceros-Plaza de La Coruna); L5 (Puerta del Mar-Plaza de La Coruña) and the L9 (Benidorm-Denia).

Metrovalencia is the metro of Valencia that was opened on October 8, 1988. It consists of three metro lines, three tram lines and more than 134 kilometers of track, of which about 19 kilometers are underground.
