Altea is a municipality and town in Spain, located on the Mediterranean Sea in the province of Alicante, about 50 kilometers northeast of the city of Alicante on the Costa Blanca North in the Valencia region. Altea is one of the most beautiful white villages of the Costa Blanca.

Altea is located 10 km from Benidorm but has a completely different atmosphere and appearance. From Altea you can take beautiful car and wine routes inland and along the coast.
The old town is an untouched place with whitewashed houses, pink roof tiles and the blue dome of the Nuestra Señora del Consuelo church as a landmark. Old, cobbled streets with viewpoints lead you to the top. At the Plaza de Iglesia you have a beautiful view of the city, the sea and the Penyal d'Ilfac.
The new town, also with whitewashed houses, is located on a wide bay with the (pebble) beach Playa La Roda. It is separated from the upper city by the N-332. There are all kinds of restaurants, terraces and bars on the lively, long boulevard. Behind the boulevard is the shopping street with (chic) shops, galleries, restaurants and bars.
Altea has a 6 km long coast with sandy beaches and bays. South of the city is the largest beach Cap Blanch with cozy beach bars and continues into Albir beach. Here is also the old fishing port with fishing and pleasure boats and a Nautica club with a good restaurant

Climate in Altea
Altea has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm, dry summers. The Mediterranean Sea has a major influence on the climate in the seaside resort. There is relatively little precipitation, the rain that falls is mainly recorded in the winter months. Due to its specific location, Altea often has a clear sky, while a cloud cover can be seen a few kilometers inland. It is therefore not surprising that many people buy a second home here.
