The municipality consists of the inland Mazarrón, the Camposol urbanization, the port and seaside resort of Puerto de Mazarrón , Bolnuevo and a number of smaller centers such as Country Club and Camposol
The Guns of Mazarron is a special place. The entire area breathes history. The guns are fearless and very present. The castle is definitely worth seeing from the inside, but take a flashlight with you.
The route there alone is worth it... beautiful small roads take you up to the highest point of the mountains.

The city and region dates back to around Middle Palaeolithic times and there are remains of its original inhabitants. Further evidence of life and culture dating back to the Upper Magdalenian and Epipaleolithic era can be found in the Algarrobo cave.
The name is derived from the occupation during the time of the Moors, who called the city Almzarron, which came from the Arabic al-Mezer, meaning ocher or red. The areas are rich in minerals in this area, hence the name.
